Whale Watching Whale Watching
Each Spring between the first of March through to late April some 20,000 gray whales migrate north to their summer feeding grounds in Alaska. Some pass close enough to shore to be easily watched right from the Inn. Many gray and humpback whales actually stay in the area so they are visible from March right through November. We have a powerful set of tripod-mounted binoculars that allow you to follow the whales as they swim past the Inn.

For a close encounter with the whales we recommend that you take a tour with the experts at Subtidal Adventures. Quality cruising since 1978 in Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands. Zodiac or Cabin Cruiser. Gray, Humpback and sometimes Ocra whales. Sea Lions, Seals, Eagles and possible Sea Otter. Exciting and innovative boat tours.

Wild Pacific Trail Wild Pacific Trail
The waves seen here are products of a recent winter storm. This point is a magical spot to watch the BIG waves, whales or huge freighters on their way across the Pacific ocean. The Wild Pacific Trail winds along the rugged coast from a position just out of this picture and offers views unparalleled anywhere in the world. The trail can be accessed right from the end of our driveway.

Sea Kayaking Sea Kayaking
Ucluelet has been a paddler’s paradise as far back as when the Nootka Indians traveled these waters in great ocean-going cedar canoes. The 100 small islands comprising the Broken Group Islands have beaches, lagoons, a large resident eagle community and many hidden channels virtually free of currents. Majestic Kayaking can take you to these fantastic locations whether you are a beginner or experienced kayaker.

Golf the West Coast Golf the West Coast
The Long Beach Golf Course, a 9 hole championship course is also known to be one of the most challenging courses on Vancouver Island. Surrounded by the ancient rainforest of Clayoquot Sound to the north and the breathtaking beauty of Barkley Sound in the south, Long Beach Golf Course invites you to experience this course in it's unsurpassed location.

Pacific Rim National Park Pacific Rim National Park
Pacific Rim National Park is on a broad coastal plain located between the villages of Ucluelet, in Barkley Sound, and Tofino, in Clayoquot Sound. The most famous features of the region are the long, sandy beaches of Wickaninnish Bay, stretching for 16 km (10 miles) and Florencia Bay, to the south, an additional 6.4 km. (4 miles) long. There are numerous trails that wander through the rain forest and most end up at secluded coves. There is also an interpretive centre on Wickaninnish Beach that focuses on the natural and cultural heritage of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Visitors can enhance their national park experience through exhibits, displays, films, and other events. Visit the park's web site for more details. Website.

Bear Watching Bear Watching
Imagine being so close you can listen to the breathing of a black bear while he turns over large boulders in search of shore crabs. See eagles, sea lions and the occasional wolf. Do all this aboard a comfortable vessel equipped with a heated cabin, washroom and upper viewing deck. Our recommended tour is Browning Pass Charters. Check out their web site and don't forget to ask them about a visit to Catherine’s Floating Gardens in Freedom Cove.

Local Trails Local Trails
There are some stunning coastal trails within walking distance of the Inn. They are well maintained and not particularly difficult. With a little discretion secluded beaches can be "discovered" tucked among the rocky coastline. Great places for a private picnic. As a courtesy we will supply you with detailed trail maps.

Sea Plane Tours Sea Plane Tours
They call him "Louis the Fly Guy" an affectionate name for a highly skilled long time wilderness pilot and his beloved seaplane. Try watching whales from above, getting a close up view of this wonderful coastline, or setting down at the Hot Springs when the crowds are gone. This is classic west coast enjoyment from West Coast Wild Adventures.

Sea Plane Tours Sport Fishing
No other place on the B.C. coast can match Ucluelet in terms of consistent season-long fishing action. And that is no idle boast. For salmon or halibut we recommend Long Beach Charters, where you will be well cared for. Arrangements can be made locally for returning your catch to your home freezer.

Nature Cruise Nature Cruises
Treat yourself to a leisurely trip abroad the luxurious 53 ft. motor yacht "Raincoast Maiden" as it cruises through the rugged and beautiful Barkley Sound. Enjoy panoramic views from the warmth of the salon or get a true bird's eye view from the command bridge. Your hosts will share their decades of experience and love for this very special area. For all the cruise options and pricing we suggest you visit their website.
